Martha's Creation

Look at Martha's latest creation! She designed, spun, dyed and knitted this fabulous sweater. It was fun to watch the work in progress - from sketch to sweater!

Martha is Sweet Home Spun's "Dyeing Diva"! She has an amazing talent for natural dyeing. She was able to dye the various shades of this sweater with marigolds. The key to getting the various shades is the mordant. All those years Martha spent in a chemistry lab sure pay off in the dye pot!

Meetinghouse Creations

Many creative folks grace the Meetinghouse! Here are a few of their creations!

The Easter Bunny can't compete with these eggs! The Knit Night group did a great job felting them.

Dana and Stephanie joined the Wednesday night spinning crowd for a try on the wheel!

Donna got caught up in a "Fair Isle Frenzy" and turned out hats for everyone in her family!

Spring Blooms

Fair Isle Caps!

Here are Cindy, Karen, Connie and MaryAnne proudly showing off their Fair Isle Caps. The Knit Night crowd learned how to knit in the Fair Isle tradition and then took off designing their own caps! Great job by all! It's a good thing the ladies enjoy knitting the caps, because their family members are all clamoring for one!

Kelsey and Kourtney Visit the Farm

Former students Kelsey and Kourtney came to the farm today to work on their SAE (Supervised Ag Experience) for their ag class at the high school. The girls learned about care of baby lambs and their mothers and helped feed the flock. After the barn chores were finished, we headed over to the Meetinghouse where they learned first hand about value added marketing. All was great fun, but of course, holding baby lamb KK was the highlight of the day. (in case you didn't guess, the girls named the lamb KK for Kourtney and Kelsey).

And Then There Were Twins!

So, Jenna came out to spin and we went to the barn to see Luna's baby. We noticed one of the other ewes, Channa, walk away from the feeder and mosey into the barn looking very uncomfortable. A sure sign her time was here, but these things usually take time. As the sun started to set, we got a little chilly and decided to wait for Adriennne and Finn in the Meetinghouse. When they arrived, Sam met them at the barn and Adrienne exclaimed, "I didn't know you had three lambs!" This was a shock to Sam, who rushed to the Meetinghouse to inform us. So Channa gave birth to a set of twins ewes and had them up and nursing in, say, 20 minutes. Hope this is a sign of more good things to come.
Yes, one of the lambs has some strange markings! Did you ever see a lamb that looked like it was wearing a saddle?
